Community Service Programs

1. Arts --Activities in this Community Service program area are designed to stimulate the artistic interests of GFWC members with participation in arts and sculpture preservation; disabilities and the arts; and various contests including Photography, Painting, Quilting, Short Story, Drama and Poetry.
2. Conservation -- Acivities in this Community Service program area are designed to increase awareness of important issues like beautification of local communities, conserving America's natural resources, preserving our national parks and observing days that commemorate conservation activities.
3. Education/Literacy -- Activities in this Community Service program area are designed to increase awareness of low literacy rates and the problems it causes; the need for mentoring; the plight of those with learning disabilities; and need for leadership skills and the value of supporting our libraries.
4. Home Life -- Activities in this Community Service program area are designed to increase awareness of important issues about women's health, women's economic security and people with disabilities
5. International Outreach -- Activities in this Community Service program area are designed to increase awareness of the importance of the United Nations, international exchange and development programs and international aid and relief organizations.
6. Public Issues -- Activities in this Community Service program area are designed to increase awareness of crime prevention, safety, assisting veterans and the importance of good citizenship.

Special Projects
 
The aim of the GFWC Signature Project:  Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention, is to increase member understanding about and involvement in programs to decrease domestic violence in communities and across the nation.

The GFWC Juniors' Special Project:  Advocates for Children, is designed to enable Juniorette, Junior and General clubs to educate, advocate and engage in projects concerning the well-being of children via health, social and safety programs.  GFWC Junior members have designed a special project, Advocates for Children, which encourages GFWC members to become active advocates for children by working to:

• Protect children from harmful situations
• Encourage healthy lifestyles
• Support and provide best practices for emergency care and
• Prevent substance abuse and youth suicide
